5 most important times of an interview
T
he 5 most important times of an interview!
1. Results just after you ask that first of the Paradigm Questions at the beginning of the Interview.
2. The questions asked by the interviewer, are they inclusionary or exclusionary, confrontational, conversational or merely killing time. Are they one sided, glorying in the exploits of the interviewer, attempting to sell you on the product job or company? Does the interviewer merely parrot back your own resume or ask “tell me about yourself, or does s/he know your background and ask how you can best help the company or how did you become successful.
3. How many times did you or the interviewer ask
you if you were interested in the job? You must ask three times for the job.
4. The last five minutes of the interviewer. What did the interviewer say or do to show buying signs. Did the language change from an applicant would do this or that to “you” would do this or that. Did they stay at their desk at the end of the interview or did they come around the desk to shake your hand and what did they say next? Did they breach the doorway to the interview location? Did they walk you down the corridor to the elevator or the outside door? Did they breach the doorway or come down in the elevator with you?
5. What was your follow-up like? Email/handwritten thank you, contact every 3 days.
Yes, I know I have asked questions that maybe no one has
ever asked you, but there a 3 time during an interview that you can control and
turn the interview experience for confrontation to conversation, right at the
beginning, when you demonstrate your ROI and during the last five minutes.
Obviously, your thank you note is the best indicator of what you will be like
after hire, which is the most important question any employer has.
