Starting Point
New Candidacy Starting Point
Below is an interesting exercise in introspection. Use this prior to starting any candidacy materials.
Instructions: Take a plain piece of paper place your name or the best descriptive word or phrase about you in the exact center of the paper.
Example: creative or great work ethic. You might consider using a different color for each section. Then if you wish you can draw lines to connect like ideas or concepts. With this exercise, as a backdrop you can write your Candidate Information Program, narrative, descriptor, profile and or resume much more easily. This tool can also help solidify your STORY.
Be careful to try to be as complete as is possible. This exercise make take several sittings. After you have listed as many items as you can then begin to prioritize them.
Your final list should only be about 5-7 items for each category.
This should lead to your B.R.A.G. (Being Realistic About Greatness) statements. See Talking Points. If you are stuck see Candidate Backgrounder and Candidate Needs Assessment first.
Enjoy the process! You will be pleasantly surprised by the results.
