The Fundamental Fact CV

Becuase of the Personal Marketing Strategy Program for Transition Candidates: “get THAT NEXT job!”© products; the vita has finally come of age as a selling tool for your candidacy. In this new iteration of the common vita form, our version called the “Fundamental Fact CV” has become a perfect reward based presentation document.

This new category of CV is the direct result of the use of the systematic nature of the PMSP© system. I guess; that if we needed a name or genre for this NEW addition to the CV types/categories, this addition could best be called a Reward Vita.

This new sales product is a reconstituting of some of the information in the original (CIP) and or the first Creative Presentation Document from the PMSP system. The Penultimate CV should be presented in Word format. We have changed the order, however, from the original CPD.

As we have said, the information that you present in your “fundamental fact” is in vita format. It must/should include, your name, contact information, five TP's “buzz” words about you and an “appropriate saying about the candidate (Example: “Taking Business to the Next Level”) at the top, followed immediately by your Accomplishment Report, labeled as such, then the Descriptor, your Candidate Narrative and finally your contact information again on the very bottom line of the page. (You might think of using a header and footer format for your contact information.) Your “tag line” or saying should be placed on the document in a similar position to the traditional summary or objective.

The “fundamental fact ” is designed to be used in a variety of circumstances; primarily, it is designed as an email vehicle. Our intent is that it is sent just after the CPD has been received by your target contact at one of your 18 companies, as part of your 18 Day Program. After the CPD has been read by your target corporate officer your “advertising/marketing” you will most likely be sent to someone in their Human Resources department to contact you. As part of that call, the HR surrogate will most likely ask you to submit electronically a CV before they can speak with you. This is your chance to reinforce your accomplishments, not just your tasks, titles and dates.

This “fundamental fact product” allows the Human Resources contact to understand why you were seen as a REWARD by the officer of their company who forwarded your information to them. Using this tool, you have now transited from your possible “risk of hire” for the HR person to a probable REWARD OF HIRE. The HR person can now act as your advocate. You have established yourself as a possible vital resource for their company in other positions, possibly those which have never been listed.

As we have said often, people always hire people, not paper. Your “fundamental fact ” establishes you as an accomplished, creative and viable applicant for a position with your target company, either existing or hidden. Via this format, you have a chance to prove your merit by standing out from the crowd, not only as qualified for a position with the company, but more importantly, as an impressive professional. You did your Job as a candidate; you got noticed!

Every job search always has five main purposes and challenges:

1. To learn who you are, who your target companies are, who your contacts in those companies are and finally; how to develop your “accomplishment” story.

2. To prepare marketing materials that will “get you NOTICED” (Be Heard, not part of the HERD.)

3. To practice HOW to “get INTERVIEWED” (Know what to ask when, why, and how.)

4. To learn to negotiate from a position of strength to “get THAT NEXT job!” and HOW TO CLOSE.

5. To develop a “REAL NETWORK” that will always be there to enable you to “get THAT NEXT next job!

Our PMSP system is also built around five basic premises:

1. Transition is and always will be A S.A.L.E.S. & Marketing JOB.

2. All contacts are AUDITIONS

3. ALWAYS stay positive in any interview setting

4. Your accomplishments must demonstrate clearly that you are a REWARD for the hiring manager

5. Work as if your job depends on it, it DOES!

Our transition philosophy can best be summed up as: “Tasks are normally dismissed, measurable accomplishments are always recognized!” The fundamental fact product is a reflection of that basic tenet of the Personal Marketing Strategy Program.

The second tenet of our transition methodology is that candidates will no longer have to rely on the old and ineffective "cover letter, vita, and prayer approach" as they seek a new career position in today’s world. This new vita format can best be described as your consummate weapon in overcoming Human Resources reluctance to consider you for employment. It could be your best attempt to impress Human Resources AFTER their boss has said to call you. You must always be cognizant that there are always two outcomes from a referral from the “boss,” one is to fast track you for inclusion in the hiring system, the other because of other political factors is to “block” your entry into the system. If you use the "ffp", the HR staff become the best advocate for you candidacy and not “The Gate Keeper” as is their wont to do.

The Fundamental Fact Prodcut: Use it well; use it often; when an electronic version of your paper is called for, even when it is the only vehicle you use for immediate contact.

* If you do use the fundamental fact product. I would suggset that at the bottom of the last page you include the words: Curriculum Vita available upon request.

Cover Letter:

If you need a cover letter to accompany your ffp, you might try to incorporate the following in your note.

……….. is responsible for developing and implementing the company's sales strategy and overseeing day-to-day operations of the sales organization. A 20-year veteran of the software and technology industry he brings laser sharp focus and expertise in successful sales strategy process and execution.

Or something similar, which is quick enticing summary. The Accomplishment Report or Narrative can also be used in place of a "Cover Letter."
