Exit Interview
Exit Interview
There are seven major components of any good exit interview. You should prepare for this interview as you would for any other. Be sure to have written notes with you.
- Questions alluding to what did you like about the job, or assignment.
- Questions about what did you not like or that you would change or improve.
- Questions about your new assignment.
- Questions about why you did not tell them that you were unhappy, or discontented.
- Questions about loyalty to the firm.
- Questions about a counter offer. What do we have to give you to make you stay?
- Questions about opportunities at the "new" employer.
Each question could be calculated to elicit information, during an emotional time, that you do not what to reveal. Be prepared to answer these, succinctly, but with great thought and courtesy. Remember that you will be working with this person again in the future.
